Amon Düül - Paradieswarts 1970

Amon Düül - Paradieswarts 1970 [rep 1997]

This album is a series of lengthy monotonous jams that have less focus than the best Amon Düül II material (which shouldn't be much of a shock considering that the other four albums released by the original Amon Düül were recorded at a single epic improvised session!). This is moderately enjoyable in its own right, although I find it to be insufficiently creative (no doubt the minimalist compositions have to do with the fact that everything is improvised). Those with low levels of tolerance for the more rambling hippieish moments that Quintessence, Hawkwind and indeed Amon Düül II have given us, should certainly steer well clear of this.

Tracks:

1. Love Is Peace (17:13)
2. Snow Your Thirst and Sun Your Open Mouth (9:28)
3. Paramechanische Welt (7:38)*

CD versions only:
4. Eternal Flow (4:10)
5. Paramechanical World (5:44)

Personnel:

- Ella Bauer / harp, bongos
- Lemur / percussion, rhythm guitar
- Ulrich Leopold / bass, vocals, piano
- Dadam / guitars, vocals
- Hansi / flute, bongos
- Helge Filanda / percussion
- Noam / African drums
- Rainer Bauer / guitar, electric bass
- Klaus / guitar, electric bass, percussion
- Angelika Filanda / flute

- John Weinzierl / guitar*
- Chris Karrer / bongos*

- And or Christian "Shrat" Thierfeld / bongos ?
(On the Ohr vinyl art is write; "Chris: Bongos" and not Christian or even Shrat.....)

Note; ..../...."Paramechanische Welt" bears more than a passing resemblance to "Sandoz in the Rain" off Amon Duul II's Yeti. I guess that's little surprise because Amon Duul II's Chris Karrer and John Weinzierl make an appearance on this cut. It was basically in exchange for two of the Amon Duul I members appearing on "Sandoz in the Rain" (it's the closest thing to Amon Duul I that Amon Duul II ever did)

PS : a new sad news. Today we left John Wetton from King Crimson and many others. The terrific 2016 year is continuing in 2017 !!!!

John Wetton will play in "Paradies" his wondrous music,

I never thank him enough for all the beautiful music he made ;-)

This is a big surprise. I expected something heavy and bombastic. But, it is airy and and witty music, a bit dated of course , but like the experimental studio sides of Pink Floyd circa More and Ummagumma. a very pleasent surprise. I remember considering buying it on vinyl back in the day, without having heard it , but the quality of the album sleeve and cover artwork turned me off. It was too extreme. I will be playing it again .

Hi joe,
Yea certainly this is a calm but really beautiful album,
but their first album Psychedelic Underground is not bad too, more experimental kind of jam session...

Hi there, I'm fairly certain the file is corrupted. I have downloaded it twice and neither RAR file would open.

If you have time could you check it.

Thanks anyway.
